The founder of the Ukrainian brand FOBERINI, Iryna Lymarenko in a conversation with BBC News Ukraine shared her opinion that embroidery willn't lose its relevance for many years, and this isn't a temporary trend.
Our embroidery is a message in which you can easily trace the splash of colors of Ukrainian nature, and the embroidered patterns that form an authentic ornament contain the power of a talisman. It's very important that the embroidery had exactly the original Ukrainian ornaments, and not invented by artists.
We cooperate with museum funds, with private collections, we sign all patterns — from which village and district, in which year we found this scheme.
Ukrainian embroidered shirts are bought in different countries, and thus more people learn about Ukraine.
I'm travelling a lot, but in every country I paid attention specifically to national-cultural achievements. I was extremely struck by Spain. They love and respect their national costume. Also Switzerland, but most of all — Iraq.
I'm pleased that Ukrainian products are presented to foreigners. They found their fans in the Middle East. Embroidery is often ordered in America and Canada. And in Europe it is mainly the Cote d'Azur.
In addition, many orders come from the Middle East. For example, for women from eastern countries the shirt should be with closed shoulders and long sleeves. Also of appropriate length. We adapt, but retain the basic elements — wide sleeves and an authentic pattern.
